New bar 136
There has been a lot of work happening at the old Candy Bar (ex Huxley's) during the past few weeks and I have just picked up a new wifi signal "Huxley Home" in the area, just wondering if its pure coincidence or there is a connection.

It's probably owner by the strong legs that stole their wi-fi router during the famous Huxley "clear out".

The new hostess bar will be called Huxtable's. Every lady drink comes with a Rohypnol.newtonabbot wrote:There has been a lot of work happening at the old Candy Bar (ex Huxley's) during the past few weeks and I have just picked up a new wifi signal "Huxley Home" in the area, just wondering if its pure coincidence or there is a connection.

Why would you use Rohypnol in a hostess bar?prahocalypse now wrote:The new hostess bar will be called Huxtable's. Related kind of.
The replacement bar is poaching all of the staff on all streets by paying everyone a minimum starting salary of $100 per month.
A few owners have expressed their concern asking if there is potential for the new place.
Who knows?

Most hostess bars are now offering $100 a month as a starting salary, due to the demand for girls to work in the bars.0zirC wrote: The replacement bar is poaching all of the staff on all streets by paying everyone a minimum starting salary of $100 per month.

I think they will struggle to get enough girls there, especially if they operate on all the three floors they are refurbishing.
They will need about 20 girls downstairs and at least 10 on each of the other floors, otherwise it will look empty and have a flat atmosphere. So that's at least 40 girls required.
Girls will often be reluctant to start at a new bar as they are unsure if it will have enough customers.
As you say it will be interesting to see how it fares, especially with the $3,500 monthly rent. That's an awful lot of ladydrinks.

I agree, all the ones i've seen have been "dead" on the upper levels why do you think this is? For me I think I want to open the door and assess the ambiance. If its ok I stay if its not I go. If its ok I don't want to explore multiple levels of "ok" Top of Black Cat is always empty.gavinmac wrote:Hostess bars with stairs/levels just don't work.

I had no idea Black Cat has an upper level.
I've joked many times that "stairs are like kryptonite to sexpats."
People don't want to walk upstairs not knowing what's up there.
Of course there have been a few places over the years with a "special room" upstairs.

Jerry: What are you doing?
Kramer: Levels.
Jerry: You drew up plans for this?
Kramer: No, no. It's all in my head.

Upstairs is where you get your knob polished is it not....a nice quite area for them to get the Brasso out...plus you know you wont met GM there win win...he doesn't do stairs
all that matters for bars to do well, is they have good looking girls who like cash and are fun imho
I thinking about upstairs
