anyone know why they've shut the road from the crossing on Norodom round past Aeon?
Seems semi permanent at least because theyve changed the signage and traffic lights.
Whats with the road closure in Chamkamorn?
they started 2 days ago as far as I remember, traffic on that road is so terrible during rush hours they have made it a One way route, as far as I have heard.
you will have to go through 294 or one of those small alleys to get to that road from now on.

They have just moved the problem instead of solving it.
Now the back alley connections across St21 have been turned into a rat run.
Hurrah for khmer town planners.
Would love to meet the clown that approved the chbarr ampo monivong bridge flyover intersection disaster. That is a fucking master stroke of how not to ease traffic congestion.

I cross the Chbar Ampo bridge twice a day at peak times, it's sometimes slow around there but very rarely jammed. It used to be the worst junction in the city.Just Robbed wrote:They have just moved the problem instead of solving it.

So do I and I find it heaps better. The Monivong roundabout is fairly chaotic but negotiable. The only time I have seen the roundabout gridlocked was during elections when "Ranting Rainsy"and his entourage took it over.starkmonster wrote:I cross the Chbar Ampo bridge twice a day at peak times, it's sometimes slow around there but very rarely jammed. Because Stung Meanchey is fucked up at the moment i get my driver to leave factory land by a back route then along 371 till Monivong across the bridge turn around across again and straight up Norodom to home, takes on average about 35 minutes as opposed to an hour the other way. Ten years ago one wouldn't even think about going that route if they didn't have to .
k440, something to do when you're pissed.
Yes, the brain trusts from the City Hall has moved the problem up Norodom (towards the Monument) to create a large car/moto/tuk tuk parking lot, morning and afternoon. We have stupids moving out, a speed, into the other directions lanes, just to get that three cars ahead. I live on Norodom, near the Caltex garage and the kids in our lane way consider it fun to go and watch the traffic jam. You can view the angry police offices near ISPP, both left and right side of Norodom, forever blowing their whistles and waving their batons, as drivers take no notice of them, it is entertaining. Yes, you do live in the "Land of Wonders", wonder why that stupid did that. What is that saying, situation all normal, all fucked up. Happy driving.
Aeon Mall jams are the reason for the change, I think. Lower Sothearos should be clearer now.
Driving southbound past the mall is possible, no changes there - but northbound is not possible. There's a stretch of 1 way street there now.
Sothearos northbound is closed/no entry at the turnoff for Diamond Island south of Aeon Mall - all northbound traffic is diverted to a right-turn to the island, and a few police are waiting at the moto carpark at Aeon to catch those who ignore and skip past the diversion signs.
Expect interconnecting roads from Sothearos to Norodom to be gummed up by traffic and plan around that.
North on Norodom, south on Sothearos.

This is the most rational move I've seen since moving here. You can now actually make a left turn into AEON Mall, the biggest attraction on the street, or at least you could if people followed the rules.Chuangt2u wrote:Aeon Mall jams are the reason for the change, I think. Today I saw a team of 8 police just north of the turn to AEON trying to stop all manner of car, tuk tuk and motorbike from traveling north on the road. For an added bonus there's now a nice jam south of AEON where it meets up with Norodom almost around the clock.
No worries though folks traffic is still moving in both directions on roads that have been one way for years like 51, 63, 130 and 136. Enjoy.
now they have reversed the one way since Yesterday!
looks like they are experimenting...
