NGO for Mental Health
There's a girl I know around town who looks like she's now totally fucked in the head. I often see her around the Mall or just last night down by the Riverside. The last two times I've seen her, she's much worse than before - flailing her entire upper body and with a completely vacant look about her. She's obviously sleeping rough judging by the state of her clothes. I'm pretty worried about her; she doesn't seem to have anyone to take care of her and is often the subject of sneers from the usual types. So, I'm wondering if anyone knew an NGO that may be able to have her condition assessed as she's going to either get taken advantage of or knocked down in the traffic.

I don't know what they are like or if they still operate...

Thanks, folks. They were the first (and pretty much only) result when I googled it. I'll contact TPO tomorrow. CATT stands for Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team, right?

He's been in his room 35 years...time to let him out!
That maybe someone a friend knows. He was telling me of a beautiful girl that he knew that has had some major problems because her bf/husband sold her baby. Apparently she totally lost it. He is trying to help her when he sees her around, as are others who knew her before. The Khmers shoo her away with sticks. Bad luck I guess. The Window Licker wrote:There's a girl I know around town who looks like she's now totally fucked in the head. Reminds me of a girl in kenya people were talking about in a similar condition. A beautiful girl again who's German b/f had gone back for a few weeks to sort some things out. While he was away she had got very drunk and awoke to find she had smothered their baby.
I have been told the locals in both countries think that they are possessed by spirits.

Don't worry, I'm sure I would find you beautiful too.epidemiks wrote:Is the primary motivator for helping this woman because she's beautiful?
BTW I've never seen/ met her, I'm just going on what someone says.

Absolutely not; merely that she's extremely vulnerable and is clearly mad as a hatter and requires urgent help. Anyway, I don't think it's the same girl.epidemiks wrote:Is the primary motivator for helping this woman because she's beautiful?
I wish one of these NGO's would address this serious issue. Perhaps we could set up a meeting. Cambodiana anyone? I hear the eggs Benedict is marvelous there

And you seek out advice about how to help strangers with mental illness you see walking in the street in every city you live? The Window Licker wrote:Absolutely not; merely that she's extremely vulnerable and is clearly mad as a hatter and requires urgent help. Faces are naturally selected for a reason you know.epidemiks wrote:And you seek out advice about how to help strangers with mental illness you see walking in the street in every city you live? The Window Licker wrote:Absolutely not; merely that she's extremely vulnerable and is clearly mad as a hatter and requires urgent help. Theories abound, but one of them is that women's facial features are more delicate to appeal to a gentler, more loving response from men. Children's even more so. Natural selection is inherently about mutation, so the ones that come out more delicately defined are going to get more attention.
Of course personality can break that whole argument down. Unfortunately, with mental health one tends not to have much going for them in the personality department. I mean, look at me for instance
