Done, you win folks!
I have read it all, I am not dismissing anything you guys have said. However, I did not think I would be fully trolled in my first night on the forums. Should have known better.
Thanks for the solid advice some of you!

Just a quick question....have you ever actually visited Cambodia before? If not, it would be a good idea to visit and do a recon before packing up your whole life and moving a young family to Cambodia.
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

Where have you traveled outside Canada and what places have you liked/not liked?
Have you considered the fact that the education and health care in Sihanoukville absolutely suck?
I've heard that Canada has free education and free health care for kids. But it is cold there four months of the year, I know.

Cold 4 months a year?
When I lived there as a student (Laval) it started freezing in October and only finished in May. Longest winter of my life.

Those would be my 2 biggest concerns, especially with 3 young children. Quality of healthcare is not great in Cambodia, therefore insurance which includes medevac should be essential. Education for the kids...not sure what they have in terms of international schools in Sihanoukville, but from what I have read and heard from people with children attending school is that the international school fees in PP are extremely expensive.gavinmac wrote:Have you considered the fact that the education and health care in Sihanoukville absolutely suck?
OP, whatever you decide to do I wish you and your family the best of luck, but I strongly reccommend that at least one of you really should come over and thoroughly recce the country first.

I don't know the OP, but from what I've seen so far, it looks like she is motivated to move to Sihanoukville because she thinks it will be fun for her ("beach bum lifestyle" "marijuana friendly"), not because she thinks it will be best for her children. And that's a shame, because while I don't have kids, I'm vaguely aware that you're supposed to put their interests ahead of your own.

Never mind.
