Just wanted to confirm this information was correct:

As an American citizen, I am totally fine getting my Visa when I get to PP International Airport? I plan on staying for over 9 weeks and just assumed that I could get the Business Visa for $25 and have it extended. Is it fairly easy to extend? I can do this at the airport, correct?

Thanks!

I just read some of the other posts regarding getting visas. If I get a business visa that is only valid for 30 days, how do I go about getting it extended if I can't do this at the airport? Is it fairly easy or did I screw myself by not applying for one in advance?

Thanks!

Travel agencies all over town will help process the extension for you. I go to Lucky Lucky Motorcycle rental out of habit, but I saw a couple of TAs on rue 63 in Boeng Keng Kang that will do it for a small fee.

Yeh, get your Business visa at the airport and extend via Lucky Lucky. Flat $25 per month. The rip-offs are at the borders; it's no hassle once you're in. Very Happy

You get a business visa at the airport for $25 for 4 weeks entry and then before the expiry date you take your passport to somewhere like Lucky Lucky and they will sort out a new visa, $150 for 6 months and about $280 for a year.

It's easy, the only problem I have ever had was them not giving me a business visa at the airport, I could only get a tourist visa (because I had nothing backing my claim of employment) then I had to go to Poipet (a real shit hole) and pay well over the odds for a business visa. Perhaps I was just unlucky at the airport.

How come your NGO is not providing your visa for you? Who did you say you're working for again?

Anyway, as the others already said, the business visa is very easy...

I'm working for the Genocide Documentation Center of Cambodia (DC-CAM). I'm just interning with them so hence no help with visa.

Just be sure to ask for the business visa at the airport, like everyone said. You'll be fine. Lots of places will process the extensions.

The NGOs actually waste money in documenting a lot of dead people, rather then aiding a lot of living people!

I wonder; how many meetings, reports, surveys, training classes, meetings, per diems, porked salaries, meetings, excursions, trips, 5-star meals and rentals, vacation trips home and etc. are sucking the money out of the budget for that, whilst luring another noble, innocent subject volunteer to their cause and nary footing a bill for even a visa?

Damn!

That's harsh!

Well, go figure!

That simply places these pond-scum even lower on my list of sub-humans species!

Despite being a poor, idealist student, I think I can manage to foot the bill for a $25 visa. Am more than willing to shell out $25 plus (plus being the $1300 flight and then some) to do important work related to an issue that hits close to home and see an awesome country like Cambodia.

My wife's family still doesn't know what has become of many of their relatives. The family has moved on, but it still matters to them. I hope they can find out someday.

Good for you, Lisstarr

Welcome to Cambodia.

Chavez,
DC-CAM is actually doing something cool, and I think the staff is almost entirely Khmer. Imagine if you had lost everything, everything, and 20+ years later still didn't know if your sister or father or wife and children were a pile of skulls on display or living in Long Beach, Ca. Wouldn't you want to know?
