I have been coming here for past eleven years and have in that time visited most provinces. I retire ( 60 at last) in November and would love to complete the set or do the bloody lot again. Any tips. I'm using local transport by the way. Traveling alone but sure I will survive. You always meet someone. Got lots of friends in PP,, SR,SV & BB and I know some English mates up Banlung somewhere so hope to find them.
My last challenge I guess. Not the fittest anymore but know my way round. So
Over to you. I love it when a plan comes together.
Cheers

I guess you could do a giant circuit if you're up to it.
PP > Kandal > Prey Veng (via bridge) > Tbong Kmoum > Kratie > Mondulkiri > Rattanakiri > Stung Treng > Preah Vihear > Kampong Thom > Siem Reap > Banteay Meanchey > Battambang > Pursat > Kampong Chhhhnnannnng > Kampong Speu > Kampong Som > Koh Kong (up and back) > Kampot > Takeo > Kandal > PP

Thank you for your suggested route. I shall have a closer look when I return home from work. Looks very good. As I sat I'm using local transport so there does need to be a bit of order to it. Looks like a plan falling into place

You're fucked across most of that route if you're using local transport.
I guess you could start in PP, go by bus to Kampot, then SHV, then overnight to Battambang, then Siem Reap, then a mini-bus to Rattanakiri and maybe one more minibus down to Mondulkiri and back to PP.

We've travelled a lot over Cambodia using local driver/taxi, always some dealer returning to hometown packs his car with travellers to pay for petrol. That bits better than bus. It's road condition that I worry about although they are better now than when I first went to most of these places. Preah Vihear was unbelievable but new road now I believe. Steung Treeng to Ratanakiri must be ok now I'm hoping otherwise I shall fly into Banglung. Either way I have two month to get round so no rush.
Get yourself a moto, a backpack, and some bungees - and take your time.

Are there still flights to Banlung? I thought that service ended long ago.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

The road from Stung Trang to Banlung is great. There are no flights into Banlung.People are using the runway to play football.Same as San Monorom. The road between Banlung and San Monorom is about half paved. Two weeks ago took me 2 and a half hours driving a Camry. The worst road I seen was # 6 between Skun and Kompong Thhmor.

So,looks like I'm not flying to Banlung but as I thought the road is much improved. Drove to Preah Vihear three year ago, road from Sa Em Commune to Preah Vihear was under construction and bloody awful as had to drive off road in ruts alongside the road being built. Sure I won't see worse than that anywhere. Never been Oddar Meanchey so shall have to take that as it comes. Fingers crossed.
Anymore tops shall be most welcome. Looking forward to game of footie on runway

Odor Menchey is great. If you went to Preh Vihear before 2009 is was crap. After the scare with the Thais in 2009, they quickly built nice roads all along the border. The Preh Vihear is now great, both via Kampong Thom as well as via Odor Menchey. OM is great both via Siem Riep or Preh Vihear. Pretty good via Bantey Menchey as well. So no worries.
