He's well known to people who have been through the TESOL mill at Pannasat...
apparently he's at Calmette now.
It was his birthday yesterday. will be able to leave the hospital in a few days (apparently)

Oh shit is that Rick Barnes?
Hope he's OK, he's a good guy.

That's the second bike crash he's been injured in over the past few years. Bad luck.
I did a TESOL with his company five something years ago, not a bad guy at all, hopefully he recovers well.

Glad he will be ok, I know him from that course also.
What happened in the accident? I don't see the other motorbike or car and can't read the article?

he hit the barrier. i think one of the photos shows the footrest on the road. I haven't heard that there was another vehicle involved, but perhaps he had to swerve to avoid something, rather than just drove into the barrier

Yes, perhaps at 3:30 a.m. he was speeding along and had to swerve to avoid a deer and he hit the barrier, and that was the cause of the accident. That's certainly a possibility. Though when a speeding Lexus SUV driving Khmer hits someone or something at 3:30 a.m., you rarely hear posters hear say "Gee, maybe he had to swerve to avoid something."violet wrote:he hit the barrier. i think one of the photos shows the footrest on the road. One of the funniest things I've seen here was at that spot. A traffic cop walked out on the road to stop a motorbike with two helmet-less guys on it. They decided to do a quick u-turn, unfortunately the barrier was in the way and they smacked right into it and fell on their asses. Dumb fucks.

He is a well respected member of the expat community.gavinmac wrote:Yes, perhaps at 3:30 a.m. he was speeding along and had to swerve to avoid a deer and he hit the barrier, and that was the cause of the accident. I just can't get past what I read here.
That's enough to make him completely flip his wig right there. I'm shocked he hasn't broken his 440 fast just to rub your nose in that.
Could it be that one of vlad's most reviled of nemeses is the proud holder of a tesol certificate?GMJS-440 wrote:I know him from that course also.

He knew that a long time ago but perhaps forgot. When you find a country before a job it is not a bad idea to have a backup plan.

I think the term "well respected member of the expat community" means anyone who hasn't been arrested yet for molesting a kid.GMJS-440 wrote:gavinmac wrote: He is a well respected member of the expat community.

I find that comment to rate quite high on the dickhead meter.gavinmac wrote: I think the term "well respected member of the expat community" means anyone who hasn't been arrested yet for molesting kid.
It's also a tad limiting, as we'd need a third option when you're in town.
Something between respected member of the expat community and pederast...skeevy comes to mind.
Been a bit cantankerous as of late. Get unfriended by your fav grey-girl on Bookface?
Better make a stand now old chap, as you are soon to reach an age where even with the dosh, the grey-girls won't be swayed and feel creeped out hence you'll be resigned to shift full-time to prostitutes to fulfill your base male urges.
