Nighttime activities besides...?
Nighttime activities besides...?
It's easy to stereotype expats as sex seeking drug addicts/drunks here in Cambodia, but I'm sure there's those like myself out there who are very much night owls but have no interest in working girls, drinking and night clubs.
So I wanted to ask, what else is there to do in Cambodia at night (after 10 or 11 pm) besides eating out, girls and getting drunk?
EDIT: I'm not aiming this as a jab to anyone in any way (if that's how it can come across), I'm genuinely interested in finding something to do. I'm not a big eater, not interested in prostitutes or sensual massages, and I am not a big drinker.

Since going sober I can tell you that there isn't much to do late night in this town besides drinking and partying, but isn't that true about most big cities? After 9pm, the booze and partly animals creep out.

If I had the equipment, the knowledge and the buddies, I would go star-gazing.
Organize a movies marathon at home.
Do some night photography.
Be a vigilante.

Holy shite, I was gonna recommend hobbies like making flies for fly-fishing, but “Vigilante!”
Can someone photograph or film Joon being a vigilante! Just her dealing with da tuk tuk mafia or over-zealous expats would give us hundreds of hours of film for future Movie Marathons.
As for Star-Gazing. Just stare at some of the members of this board, a few have da narcissistic personality disorder.
Does anyone know any martial arts on this board?
Seriously, Joon needs to start training! VIGILANTE JOON.
P.S. Seriously, OP has a good question.
Any obsessive hobbies/activities? Martial arts? Regular art?
or is it only drink,drugs,debauchery...

Get stoned and surf internet.
But like the others, love Joon's suggestion. Most comic book superheroes become vigilantes because of some traumatic incident and have powers related to their previous civilian lives. So in your case, you'd be either "Moto-man" or "the Coffee Avenger".
Moto-man would be a minor force for good, hearing any problems with the engine, brakes or other components of small calibre motorcycles with his highly tuned senses and stealthily fixing them while they sleep blissfully unaware.
The Coffee Avenger would monitor dens of soybean and corn syrup iniquity and go in and destroy their stocks at night, leaving a message spelled out in high-quality Arabica beans on the shop floor to only use the real stuff.

On a serious note, AE86’s passion for the art of mechanics is infectious (in a good way). Passion and enthusiasm breeds beauty and excellence.
Is there no one else? Can there only be one (person with passion here)? Is it an age issue? Are you all too jaded? It's gotta be the heat, right. Blame the heat.
Will I become as jaded and lose my beautiful obsessions after living in Cambodia?
Anyways, good for you AE86 and Moneyback...I get why you carry a baton now, as you got mugged and lost all your camera gear too.

My passions are birding and running. Not that many birds at night and my running tends to be early morning.agincourt wrote:On a serious note, AE86’s passion for the art of mechanics is infectious (in a good way). Passion and enthusiasm breeds beauty and excellence.
