Not a lot and less. Anything from $6ish upwards, off the top of my head (best to spend a bit more on sth that might not exploded in your face is recommended).
Gas is 1500r.
Much more economical and safer to get a proper gas ring and big bottles of gas.

yeap, a few years back neighbours from the apartment above had their window blown out on to other neighbour's suv parked by the building after attempting to heat up their dinner on one of those babies. still don't know how no one was injured in that accidentpedros wrote:Not a lot and less. ^^It's because the window had taken the brunt of the explosion and the escaping pressure took that route out rather than doing more damage to the people. Much like how the assassination attempt on Hitler failed when it blew the walls off Wolf's Lair.

Make sure you get a new gas can with it. I once heard one can explode at the market after a refill. All the groceries in the lady's back were scattered around her, and she (and all the people around) were pretty scared to (nearly) death. Most cans sold at the market are very rusty and will be used until, well, they can't be used anymore...... Always hand 'm your new can and make sure you get it back.
Which market gives you your can back refilled, Kachang?
I most often use the cans with a small gas blowtorch, and could use a refill service that gave me my own new cans back.
I paid $9 for a similar style of cooker years ago - not had a problem with it, although I'm aware that they're not a safe design given the shonky refills popular here. I use it outside and near a gentle/slow fan - thinking is if the can leaks then the escaped gas won't build up so much.

That depends on whether you are buying it from Ricecakes or not.

The problem with these kind of stoves is that they are inherently dangerous when using larger pans than the small pans the stove is intended for, since they will then heat up the gas-canister to unacceptable levels. (and the use of old refilled cannisters won't improve its resistance to overheating)
These stoves have been banned in Australia http://www.elgas.com.au/blog/1419-nsw-b ... ox-cookersAbsentmindedprofessor wrote:The problem with these kind of stoves is that they are inherently dangerous when using larger pans than the small pans the stove is intended for, since they will then heat up the gas-canister to unacceptable levels. However there is a new type of refillable cartridge with a patented countersunk release vent (CRV) which prevents the canister from exploding. This was developed by Maxsun Co. Ltd in South Korea. I don't know whether they are available here.
