Theft at Queenco Palm Beach Otres?
Followed by a second theft committed by the Queenco staff who responded to the first theft.
Allegedly.

“Customer get robbed by the Queeco Palmbeach staff. The owner Christian, Patrice, Strohl couldn't care less.
November 23 we got robbed a the Queenco Pam Beach resort a Sihanoukvile.
Around 7.30 we left our bungalow to have dinner in the restaurant. When my wife went back to the room she found out that people broke in to our room and everything was gone. Clothes, back packs, money, camera, passports,…..everything.
After we alerted the night guard and more of staff came. My wife putted down her bag she brought form the restaurant and looked with the staff around the bungalow. In mean time the staff took advantage of the confusion and robbed us from my wife’s wallet, the only thing we had left because we brought it to the restaurant.
The police came to do an investigation and found back our back packs with clothes a bit further. Everything that had any value was gone. We asked to call the manager or the owner but they refused to and nobody showed up to help and we where surrounded be thieving staff.
Next day the police came to interrogate the staff but they chose not to cooperate and that was it.
Without any money or credit cards we where stuck. The boss of the police tells us he also wants to talk to the owner Christian Stroll but the couldn't care less and doesn't show up and doesn't call us. The management tells us again they are not allowed to to anything.
When we ask for the phone number of the Christian the staff gives us an out of date phone number he never uses. The following 2 days the staff tells us there is nothing they can do. After 2 days trying to get in touch with the owner the his girlfriend who runs the bar admits that the owner does not want to talk to us and that they are not allow to give us his real phone number.
The moment of the robbery they told us the owner would come next day. They kept lying to us telling every day that Christian would come soon, than tomorrow, than Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Now 3 days after the robbery there is no sign that he will every show up. He doesn't care about the customers and doesn't seem to give a damn if his staff is stealing or not.
We write this post in the hope owner Christian Strohl (known as Chris) gets in touch with us or somebody can provide us with his real contact details.
A story to be continued”

Response from owner - a threat to sue for defamation.
Is there more than one Queenco casino and how are they related?

FFS why don't they just get their insurance claim sorted out, wait until it's time to go them cause the most damage possible until the place is nearly crumbling to the ground.
Or they can moan on FB about it.
Keep your money in your home country and don't stay anywhere without metal bars and doors lol

The point of the FB post is obviously to warn others that may be thinking of staying there, a job IMO that should be left to the local English language press.finy wrote:FFS why don't they just get their insurance claim sorted out, wait until it's time to go them cause the most damage possible until the place is nearly crumbling to the ground.

I hate this staff robbery in hotel shit, hear about it time and time again and have suffered hotel robbery by staff myself before, also hate the fact that the EL press here don't seem keen to start naming and shaming. Plenty of places that don't do it, so why not shame the ones that do into sorting themselves out before the prevalence approaches that of Vietnam.
South East Asia, the only place in the world I know of where the victim is vilified if they are a foreigner.and the thief that steals from them mostly not only goes unpunished, but gets to keep their job if a local!!!

GavinMac,
Queenco casino on Victory beach, is a part of the Queenco Leisure Group who are based in Greece and also have holdings in Serbia.
It is my understanding that Queenco Leisure Group and Queenco on Otres are only very tenuously, if at all related.
Now that I'm subcontracting to you, I expect my salary to be paid monthly in beer please!
I'm playing nice now Scobz, you must admit

Queenco leased the land from a very powerfull owner announcing a double casino hotel construction in SHV.gavinmac wrote:

Soon after, newspapers reported the group was hit by some financial problems that would impair it's development in Cambodia.
From then on, they appeared to concentrate their effort on the development of their victory beach casino and (soon to be opened) fully renovated hotel.
Meanwhile and IMO to fulfill their Otres beach long term lease minimum development obligations as well as help on the rent, they let a third party develop a beach club and some beach activities plus a few bungalows on that site and under their name.
Nice place to hang out on the beach if you like bigger classy place btw.

As long as you make sure to keep an eye on your valuables it appears. If Chris doesn't stamp this out it will only spread.Barang_doa_slae wrote: Nice place to hang out on the beach if you like bigger classy place btw.

I'm sure Facebook, trip adviser etc have a much bigger reach than any of the three EL news sources around here. much better way to spread news of robberies etc.Mr Lovejuice wrote:The point of the FB post is obviously to warn others that may be thinking of staying there, a job IMO that should be left to the local English language press.finy wrote:FFS why don't they just get their insurance claim sorted out, wait until it's time to go them cause the most damage possible until the place is nearly crumbling to the ground.

Is the Queenco Casino connected to the resort in any way?
I was looking at Queenco Leisure Int half year results the other day from when it was listed on the LSE, before it de-listed last year after a tender offer.
Made fairly interesting reading considering the recent news about casinos in SHV. On one hand they talked about the heavy losses in SHV, and on the other they talk about expansion in SHV ;
"Along with the implementation of our cost-saving plans and increased marketing
efforts in Rhodes, we have shifted our focus to South East Asia, although we
require additional capital in order to truly develop our current project in
Sihanoukville, Cambodia. The Company is now considering various options to
raise such capital".
The Group decided to strategically move away from Europe towards South East
Asia, in order to decrease the losses we had previously incurred. Management
believes that its recent marketing efforts concerning Casino Rhodes have
already paid off and will continue to improve the casino's future prospects.
Queenco Casino, Sihanoukville
The project in Cambodia has suffered significant losses amounting for the 6
months ended 30 June 2014, to € 0.9 million. Such losses and negative cash flow
were financed up to date by the Company. However, due to the financial
condition of the Company (see note 1.2 to the attached financial statements)
there is uncertainty as to the ability of the Company to continue to do so, if
needed.
In addition to the development of the current project in Sihanoukville, the
Company would like to develop a new tourist project on a 9 hectare land it owns
in Sihanoukville, which is located near the current Cambodian project. The
Company intends to continue to try and locate investors and/or business
partners for the development of a tourist project on this land, which may
include a hotel, casino, commercial center and a convention center, pursuant to
the building permits for this land, which allow for the building of a 5 star
hotel, consisting of 3,000 rooms, a commercial center and a convention center.
However, due to the Company's cash flow distress, it may need to sell this
land. Indeed, the Company's board of directors resolved in February 2013 to
offer for sale the Company's 9 hectare land in Cambodia, if needed to enable
the Company to meet its obligations. The Company has contracted a selling agent
in Cambodia to help it in realizing the property. The Company also considers
raising funds through the issuance of equity or debt, in which event it may
re-consider its decision to sell the 9 hectare land.
The bit below sounds abit contradictory to the above....and considering we all know that SHV is mostly ''full of meth heads, sex pats, backpackers, and hipsters'' , where was the demand to justify the expansion?
There are substantial doubts as to the ability of the project in Cambodia to
continue its operations as a "going concern". The financial statements do not
include any adjustments that might result from the outcome of this uncertainty.
For more information see note 1.3 to Company's 2013 annual financial
statements.
In addition, the Group is continuing its efforts to realize excess assets, such
as the planned sale of a real estate in Bulgaria (which is not in use by the
Group) and a 9-Hectare land in Cambodia. Although the Company would like to
develop a new tourist project on the 9-Hectare land, due to the Company's cash
flow distress, it may need to sell this land. The Company's Board of Directors,
in a meeting held in February 2013, resolved to offer for sale the 9-Hectare
land, if needed, to enable the Company to meet its obligations. The Company has
contracted a selling agent in Cambodia to help it in realizing the sale. The
Company has also contracted a selling agent in Bulgaria to help with its plans
in selling the real estate there. Until and including the third quarter of
2013, the assets were presented as held for sale. However, due to the extended
period in which such efforts were made, with no success, the Company has, in
the fourth quarter of 2013, reclassified the assets back to Property Plant and
Equipment, where they were originally presented, as the sale is no longer
considered highly probable within the context of IFRS 5.

Their bar is actually a very nice raised open wooden deck place on the beach and has a very upmarket feel for SHV. Walked past it 3 days ago and it was packed in the bar area and on the beach loungers. I suspect alot of Russians were there as there was a good few - enormous but robust male bellies dotted about.
Walked all the way along Otres to the large estuary and was surprised at the various resort development behind the beach further down in what just 2 years ago was dead.

They seem to be saying that they came back to the room, and saw it was burgled (the first theft). The wife put down her handbag in the room, and they called the staff. When the staff came to the room to "investigate," someone from the staff then stole the wife's wallet from her bag (the second theft).LexusSchmexus wrote:How do they know it's the staff robbed them? There's no mention of that.
I think they are also suggesting that since staff committed theft #2, it's likely that staff also committed theft #1.
