Anyone spotted a decent step.down transformer in the shop's in PP?
Got a piece of electrical kit winging its way to me from the state. US uses 110v in comparison to the 220 or 230v they have here.

Lots of ok Chinese ones in the audio and speakers shops around Phnom Penh. Try street 107.

I saw a small transformer at HomeFix on Mao Tse Toung Blvd a couple of weeks to go. Not sure how many amps it can handle.

Do you mean electrical kit or electronic kit? An amplifier or such like no problem, but what exactly is it for?
I wouldn't recommend Chinese anything. Be sure to use an inline circuit breaker between the transformer and the appliance, you will just be laughed at if it burns out and you take the TF back demanding a refund/replacement.

Kinda hard not to recommend Chinese anything, as most transformers are usually made in China - even the top stuff in the home countries.
With step down transformers, important to make sure you know what wattage your electrical kit is, as that will give you an idea of what step down you need. They are not all the same, and are made for different output power. The other thing to consider are whether it is toroidal (round transformer) or the not so efficient EI core (square). The toroidal is also better as they have a lower magnetic field, and so wont interfere with your audio visual equipment. Thermal protection inside the transformer is a must - they overheat! Also good if they have fuse shut down.
Last thing to consider is frequency. US frequency is 60Hz. If there is a freq difference between the US and the place you are, then some equipment may not work as they are frequency sensitive - things like microwaves, clocks, fluorolights etc..... No transformers can change frequency.

There are some shops who import and resale large refigerators they have these type of items of good quality as many of the refers are 110v that need to run on the local power.

It's for a juicing machine. Can't get cold pressed juicer here and one I bought locally is not cold pressed and is getting on.
