For a Khmer person, having not only a significant other but also a visa to a western country or Australia/NZ has to be a major plus in the eyes of OTHER western countries if said Khmer person wishes to take a holiday as a tourist there. For example, if someone gets their Khmer wife a permanent immigrant visa to the US/UK/Canada, would you assume that it would be pretty easy to get a tourist visa for most western countries after that? If someone is a permanent resident of a western country, do they pretty much get tourist visas to other western countries the same as citizens like you and I would?
It would be nice to be able travel a bit more freely and hassle free once we make it to the United States.

Anyone who doesn't like Capitalism is a pathetic loser. God bless the USA and no place else.

I have no doubt it does.DetroitMuscle wrote:For a Khmer person, having not only a significant other but also a visa to a western country or Australia/NZ has to be a major plus in the eyes of OTHER western countries if said Khmer person wishes to take a holiday as a tourist there. Once the primary Western embassy has determined she's not a complete yokel or working girl and you've that first stamp, it makes entry to all others easier.

Would still need a visa for Europe, presumably easier, not sure how much easier.
I think Cambodians can visit some Caribbean and Latin American countries without a visa. Ecuador, for example.

Mrs PH has been to Europe twice, without an issue. I'm convinced it's on the back of the Aus stamps.
Sister was rejected for entry to the EU - she has not been outside of ASEAN before. Kraut partner was stubborn though and wouldn't heed advice to get papers in order first.

There's a wiki showing where Cambodians can go without a visa. It's here. Not sure how accurate it is. For example, U.A.E is listed as visa required but I've read that anyone can get a visa to visit Dubai if they are transiting there between 8-96 hours.

That map isn't too comprehensive.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

A tourist visa will help a little to show she has complied with visa conditions.
A permanent resident visa will help a little further however it is not the same as having citizenship of that country and they still have to apply for visas which in some countries can be arduous and time consuming.
Best is to get citizenship as soon as possible in the western country however this can have adverse affects on your right to citizenship or even visas back to your home country.
