From the immigration cubicle wall of shame

I always check the immigration cubicles for the names of flagged Westerners when I arrive or depart Cambodia. They seem to rotate the names quite regularly. The names don't stay up for long, and there are always new names every time I pass through the airport.

Anyway, two names I spotted today were:

Disgraced Australian former diplomat Robert Scoble: http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/03/ ... 18570.html

Image

and

Australian child porn aficionado Paul Morphou: https://www.themorningbulletin.com.au/n ... d/2537407/

I don't have any reason to believe that either guy is a fugitive, but the competent authorities seem to be on the lookout for them, presumably to prevent them from entering the country and landing a teaching job at Home of English.

How can they travel since Australia passed the passport ban to sex offenders?

It seems that Paul Morphou was never convicted despite that he was found in possession of child pornography. I don't know why.

I'm not sure that Scoble was convicted of crimes in Australia. See discussion here:

If he was not convicted then that is likely the case I guess. Then, with no conviction it's likely a different reason that his poster is up at immigration? Pertussis he is in south east Asia and up to no good?

I've been monitoring the walls of shame for a year or so now, and then googling the names, and the imoressions I ahve are:

1. Most names are of pedophiles, but I've also seen names of Eastern Europeans who might be involved in financial crimes, and the alleged murderers coming from Thailand like Abel Bonito, etc.
2. There seem to be a disproportionate number of Australians who get their names up there, I suspect there is some cooperation with Australian police.
3. Australia, the USA, and the UK have many thousands of convicted child sex offenders, I don't think they are just randomly putting names of convicted Western pedos on Cambodian immigration walls, I think these are guys who they have a specific reason to believe would be visiting Cambodia.

I also saw the name of an American on the wall last month, googling tells me he had been involved with a child-helping NGO in Cambodia, but I don't want to post his name in case he's a fugitive and they are looking to arrest him because he did something bad in Cambodia.

AFP and the CNP work very closely together through a very tight liaison program.

Saw this guy's details on the cubicle wall today. I'm surprised that Uncle Sam would have Cambodian immigration officers on the lookout for a mere Medicare scammer.

Stealing federal money usually trumps any other crime.

There are huge lists and PP copies of Chinese and African names on the Immigration counter walls in departures, didn't appear to be too many white dudes names
