Passing money, or even a pen with one hand touching the other hand/arm has become instinct, as well as the same for cheersing every sip of fucking beer, but I never gave much of a thought to why.
Somebody told me it's the same in Korea, and done to show you have no weapon, 'i give this in peace'.
Which, when you think about it is why we shake hands with the right (sword holding) hand, I suppose, too many brothers must have been shanked bitd, and customs come from that.
2 handed offerings
^ This. Not only Cambodia and Korea, it's done in many countries.pedros wrote:

I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
I thought the Greeks were first to use the handshake as a display of no weapons.
The Nepalese also use four fingers across the wrist/forearm of the offering arm as I believe the lone gesture of one hand/arm is considered rude, akin to pointing.

I'm doing my best to introduce the high-five and fist bump into Cambodian culture.
"Fist bumps are more hygienic than handshakes and drastically reduce the risk of spreading infectious diseases, researchers in Britain have found. The study discovered that a handshake transfers 10 times as much bacteria as a fist bump, following a series of tests at Aberystwyth University on the west coast of Wales."

The Greeks invented many things, including sex. But it were the Romans who took it a step further by introducing it to women.Londo wrote:I thought the Greeks were first to use the handshake as a display of no weapons.
