This is a shame:

McLaren P1 Damaged During Truck Crash In Cambodia

A McLaren P1 has been badly damaged in Cambodia after the transport truck that was carrying it collided with another truck.

....

Speaking to the media, police chief of the local Botum Sakor district, Sok Thorn, said the cause of the crash was still being investigated and no one has come forward as the owner of the expensive McLaren, restricted to just 375 examples worldwide. Five people were injured in the crash.

Saw the pics the Violet one had posted on another thread but didn't know the story.

Taking a highly tuned sports car on Cambodian roads seems foolhardy, even if it is on a truck.

There is about just one person who is known for collecting such cars. I wouldn't like to be in the truck company directors'shoes.

I wonder why the hell they would truck it up on a flat bed to begin with and not in the container it came in on.

Could be a number of legitimate reasons, but like I said in the other thread, a lot of these rich Khmers are surprisingly cheap in weird ways.

Nah. There are way more luxury/supercars around than most people realize, and quite a few people who have yards full of them. This thread on the much missed Koonkhmer might give you an idea:

Great to know McLaren still honour the founder of the company with this badge

I saw a convertible Jag awkwardly trying to parallel park at a Browns yesterday. It had a giant "Jaguar" sticker down each side, a la Lexus.

I think you have misunderstood. A Mclaren P1 in good condition is worth roughly the same as every car in the photos you posted combined. That Nissan GTR in your pics? You can literally buy twenty of them for the price of a P1. Yes, there are lots of people here with cars worth $200k-400k, but there are very few with cars that individually cost upwards of $3 mill.

The person in question is known not only for his love of hypercars, but for Mclarens specifically. He had one parked in his living room at one point, and it would be shocking if this one belonged to anyone else.

Edit: Can confirm it was his.

Where can anyone buy all those Rolls Royces, Lamborghinis, Porsches and Ferraris for $1.15 million?

It's the carbon fiber version, they go for over $2 mill (source: They pop up for sale on James Edition every now and then). The vast majority of lambos and ferraris here (including most of the ones in the photos) are older models that go for less than $200k (and the GTR's for less than $100k). You are right that my statement was an exaggeration if you include the Rolls, but the point stands; There is only one person here who'd spend millions of dollars on a Mclaren, and I was right that it's his.
