Some good press for Kampot

Postby Miguelito » Sun Dec 10, 2017 4:42 pm

Travel and Leisure Southeast Asia has a feature article on taking the train to Kampot, but focuses mostly on the town itself.

CHARTREUSE RICE PADDIES and tree-covered hills ease by as I gaze out the window on the four-hour train journey from Phnom Penh to the southern riverside town of Kampot. Arriving at the tumbledown station, before bumping along a dirt track in an outsized tuk tuk, I'm prepared for the possibility that Kampot is little more than a rural backwater. But the approach belies the increasingly cosmopolitan nature of this emerging destination, with a boom of new café, bar and restaurant openings propelling this historic port forward.

Kampot shall become the perfumed pearl of the Orient in mid-2019 ... as that's when I'll drag my sorry arse over there

I stopped after the first three words.

Anyone who use the word chartreuse to describe rice paddies is a damned nonce.
