Just a quick positive note that we don’t get to hear that often. My wife left her iPhone X in a taxi coming back from the airport. She hadn’t put her Cambodian Sim in it yet, so we could not do Find My Phone. I went back to the airport (yea, what we all want to do after getting home), and the driver had already turned it into the taxi authority, and we got it back instantly.
The taxi price is now $15 instead of $12, but I’m definitely glad we went with an official taxi instead of a tuk tuk or unofficial taxi. I’m also impressed he turned it right in, good on him (and I sought him out and tipped him for it).
Lost iPhone X in taxi, got it back

I went to official booth and asked for a taxi. After telling him where I was going he gave me a slip that said $15. In Khmer I asked why it was $12; he told me (again all in Khmer) that it used to be $12, but was now $15. I paid the driver directly and kept the slip.gavinmac wrote:Says who?FatherTime wrote:J

It’s certainly a ripoff when it’s more than it is in Bangkok for a longer distance, and yes Grab is cheaper. But I didn’t have to wait, and had a nice and reliable service that returned a lost iPhone. Worth a few extra dollars in the long run.

I’ve never taken a Grab in Cambodia, but I just checked and it’s 30,100 riel to the airport. There are a ton of cars around me at the moment, so I don’t think it’s surging or anything. Is the return trip cheaper?epidemiks wrote:Says the prepaid taxi ticket sellers. Passapps and grabs still around $5gavinmac wrote:Says who?FatherTime wrote:J

Perhaps epidemiks house is closer to the airport?Miguelito wrote:I’ve never taken a Grab in Cambodia, but I just checked and it’s 30,100 riel to the airport. Or he is using one of the many 30% discount promotions.
Neither, the price I glanced at was for a bajaj, not a car. Toul sleng > pochentong in a bajaj is 15,000៛, car is 30k.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote:Perhaps epidemiks house is closer to the airport?Miguelito wrote:I’ve never taken a Grab in Cambodia, but I just checked and it’s 30,100 riel to the airport. Forgot my pc in the back of a passapp tuck tuck recently, called costumer service and got it back
Damn, under $4 to get to the airport? Impressive.epidemiks wrote:Neither, the price I glanced at was for a bajaj, not a car. What's the exchange rate on PassAps? If it's 30,100 riel do you give $7 and 2100 riel?

Don't think passapp gives an exchange rate. I would use 4000/1 but usually give a little extra as it is pretty cheap.amirite wrote:Damn, under $4 to get to the airport? Alternatives are to use grab as you can link your bank card. Or iTsumo as you can pay via wing/ Pi Pay/ wallet. I prefer these options as I dont' need the correct money.
Grab current promotion for GTT25 gives 25% off the tuktuk ride, bringing the total to the airport to $3
