Mu Gourmet closed
This is a shame, they were my go-to for nice cheese. I’m at Khéma now and their deli prices seems about double what Mu was... but I suppose that might have been why they failed?
You choose to return there known they don't have decent cheese, Are you crooked?violet wrote:The last 4 times I went there they had no decent cheese.

Fair enough. I used the wrong terminology. I simply meant I won't bother to comment on why his comment had little do with mine.Gin&Tonic wrote:And by doing that, you just addressed it.violet wrote:I'm straight and your comment is provocative. I won't bother addressing it.

Don’t worry Migs there will be batshit threads instead of delicious beer and cheese.
If it's for Migs then it's either wine and cheese or craft beer, none of that ordinary donkey piss.beer and cheese.

I’m equal opportunity - I’m even subjected to Cambodia beer on the hash now.logos wrote:If it's for Migs then it's either wine and cheese or craft beer, none of that ordinary donkey piss.beer and cheese.
Last night had some great cocktails at Tomoka, might order a bottle for the afternoon.
But Mu did have some good Belgium beers, and cider. I’ll miss having it there.

Dang... I sued to go once a week. I noticed for a while that they weren't stocking as wide a variety as before. A shame if it's permanent and not just a relocation. I think the market business is pretty though, as a lot of competition has popped up recently, though it was the best along with Thai Huot for cheese.
Home Top sells beer now and has some of the brands that were exclusive to Mu Gourmet. The only bottle I glanced at was $10 each.
Hometop seems to have an identity problem. It's gone from hardware store to cheap supermarket, and now overpriced beer. An ad popped up on FB this morning with $300 bathroom mirrors.

Yeah, I'm really sad about Home Top. They went from being the only hardware store in town (badly needed) with quality products. I'm guessing they weren't making enough money, as they then started reducing stock, and finally converted to a supermarket that has nothing unique in any way. Same boring stuff you can buy anywhere else in town, for either the same price or more. There's still the copycat Home Style or whatever it's called further down MTT, but I always preferred Hometop. I think they'll be disappointed with sales, as the TTP crowd will stick to Super-duper, OneandOne and those other marts which are closer to home, and obviously no one from BKK or Olympic area will head there either if they have the same products as more local places.
Mu always had nice beers in discount. Like $1-1.5 for a really nice bottle of Belgian beer. Even their regular prices weren't bad. The best though was the uniqueness of their cheese and cold cut selection, plus the fact that it was QUIET. I only ever went to Thai Huot on Monivong or Mu, and sometimes Super-duper. I hardly ever set foot at the BKK TH location or any Lucky as they're always jam packed. I love being the only one walking around, but I guess that's why they closed...
