Favorite drinking quotes

Believe it or not, there is a whole other world outside of Cambodia and South East Asia, be it people or politics, frustrations or football, this is the place to talk about it.

There are a lot, but just read this one and liked it:

“It’s never too early for a cocktail” — Noël Coward, The Vortex (1926)

Once I sober up I’ll post the accompanying Hemingway quote.

Churchill explains that having a woman in Parliament was like having one intrude on him in the bathroom, to which the Lady Astor retorted, "Sir, you are not handsome enough to have such fears".” ...

Winston Churchill: "And you, madam, are ugly. But I shall be sober in the morning."

"A fool and his money are some party." On a sign at the Hemmingford Arms in Angel Islington - an Irish pub I used to drink in.

I only drink a little, but when I do, I turn into another person, and he drinks a lot.

we used to drink at a little rice wine shack at the end of the old market. lost it to the fire a few years ago.
the cyclo drivers would all be there at the end of the day getting wasted. one of them told us this once.
"we drink lots of rice wine until we pass out in our cyclos, that way we don't feel the mosquitoes biting us.
the mosquitoes only bite us once, and they get drunk and then pass out too."

Beer can replace Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner,
However I do prefer drinking sprits for breakfast as beer takes to long to offset the hangover.
I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

... [Thomas Hudson] looked at his watch. "Why don't we just have a quick one?"
"Fine. I could use one." [Roger explained]
"It isn't quite twelve."
"I don't think that makes any difference. You're through working and I'm on vacation. But maybe we better wait until twelve if that's your rule."
"All right."
"I've been keeping that rule, too. It's an awful nuisance some mornings when a drink would make you feel alright."
"Let's break it," Thomas Hudson said. "I get awfully excited when I know I'm going to see them," he explained.
"I know."
"Joe," Roger called. "Bring the shaker and rig for martinis."
"Yes, sir. I got her rigged now."
"What did you rig so early for? Do you think we're rummies!"
"No, sir. Mr. Roger, I figured that was what you were saving that empty stomach for."
