Dude, never, ever pay more than a dollar for a fine. It doesn't even really matter if all you have on you is a $10 or $20 bill. Just keep on telling the officer "sorry, I have only $1 on me" until he agrees. Then go into the nearest shop to change... I swear, you'll get away with it.Chuangt2u wrote:Luckily I keep reil in the wallet and dollars in my pocket, but it still cost me 30,000.
Wet season streetmap
Bump.
Anything new?
St 63 wasn't too bad from 302 to Sihanouk, but St 19 was flooded to above sidewalk height at the palace - and a little worse than normal farther north. Wat Phnom was clear, but St 47 north from there to the Japanese bridge roundabout was a moto killer - well over knee deep in places. To be avoided after heavy rain if you're in the area.

I started this thread on the 19th of June 2007, and it's taken until September 2009 to derail it - that must be a record for 440.
The original idea was to help people avoid wading through crud and floaters, but it looks like they may have to do that even here.
Any chance that admin can delete anything that isn't flood related?
Cheers

and Bubble T's request.
The following is a basic working-draft streetmap of PP.
If you would like to contribute information about streets or junctions that you know to flood after a good half hour's rain, then right-click save it, edit it in paint or photoshop or somesuch and email it back to me at
chuangt2u(at)yahoo.co.uk
or leave a note on this thread. I'll compile all info onto one map and post updated versions here once a week ish.
With enough interest and input from this board, this could be refined, finished and useable in very short order.
Suggestions for colour coding....
White = unknown
Green = passable with no flooding
Blue = flooded but passable by moto
Red = impassable to all but heavy shipping.
Cheers

Wat Phnom now has new drains in the red area shown on the map, and they seem to be working well as the road was almost completely clear between clock dial 10 and 5 during/after the afternoon rains on Monday last. The road that leaves the wat at 11 o clock and heads northwards is St 47 - and was flooded beyond knee deep for almost its entire length and stopping motos galore on the same day - to be avoided if you're in anything but a 4x4 or canoe. The upper right section aorund Wat Phnom; Got some great shots there in april with 2-3 feet of water and the kids swiming inthe streets!!
I'll update the map over the weekend.
Thanks all.

Looking for routes that are clear even after a good half hour's full-on monsoon downpour.
I didn't copy across the TK roads as they've been surfaced since 2007 and I haven't been up there in the rain yet so don't know how they are now.
Regarding the other missing east-west green section near TK - work is ongoing re drainage, will update later.
Cheers
