Poll: Do You Plan to Die in Cambodia?

I’m curious about how many expats plan to live the rest of their lives (in other words, die) in Cambodia. I’m not asking if you’re a “deathpat” who is intentionally or at least recklessly drinking, drugging or whoring yourself to imminent death.

It’s just that you see a lot of young-ish to middle aged expats, but I haven’t met a lot of really elderly ones (granted, some of the 50 year old alcoholics look about 75).

My own opinion is that Cambodia seems that it’s a good place for ‘early retirement’ (my goal), but maybe not a great place for later retirement. I could see myself living there from age 45-55, but I don’t think I’m going to want to be riding on the backs of motos and being punched in the arm by 22 year old bargirls when I’m 70.

I think that, at a certain age, I’m going to want to be back in the Western world sitting in a comfortable chair, talking to myself, and complaining about the neighborhood kids running through my yard. Especially if I want access to competent medical care that can keep me alive longer then I really need to be.

So I’d like to know if most readers of this website have an exit plan in place or whether you’re in Cambodia for the long haul.
