Art Not Propaganda
The latest visit to Cambodia by renowned photographer Tim Page prompted a discussion on our forum which did an effective job of noting just how difficult it is to make a living these days from photography. As if to adequately illustrate this point I got an email from the excellent JPG Magazine website, bringing the sad tidings of their imminent demise.
Amongst the well composed but somewhat predictable S21/Angor Wat pics, there is some wonderful Cambodia photography at JPG that is well worth checking out. Especially as it may no longer be online for much longer. Photography from the very gifted Steve Goodman, much previously seen here, is well featured, but here are some other outstanding photos. This brings me to the title of the post – for JPG offer a selection far easier on the eye than the CPP’s collection of dismal but hilariously labeled Stalinist propaganda photos briefly on show at Wat Phnom this week. Forum readers may like to play ‘guess the place’ with a few of the photos here.
