As druggy as the club scene it depicts, Billy Corben’s riveting docu LIMELIGHT (2011, 102 mins) follows the career of Peter Gatien, the Canadian entrepreneur who ruled New York’s nightlife in the 1980s, into a ball of confusion and hyperbole.

Of course, when you have 1,000 people on the payroll – from convicted killer Michael Alig to DJ Moby – servicing more than 60,000 club kids a week for two decades, there’s no dearth of stories – such as 55-gallon barrels of ecstasy punch being served from the DJ booth.

Screening is followed by a live DJ Set (8.30PM).
