SPARKLE! @ The Flicks 1 + 2
This is a great, fun, enjoyable movie. It has everything: great lines and killer comebacks, wit, excitement, suspense, drama, charged emotions, great acting, a good story, beautiful cinematography, and of course, the music rocks.
Set in the 1960s, three sisters form girl group and soon become local sensations with major label interest, but fame becomes a challenge as the close-knit family begins to fall apart. The last movie starring the late Whitney Houston is a story about Sparkle, a young woman who will fight against her deepest emotions to become that star.
On the acting front, Whitney Houston delivered a powerful, raw and completely revealing performance. Her figure, bearing, and presence are completely transformed from “legend,” “Whitney Houston,” to a bruised and weary woman who is determined that her babies will not lose their way as she did, and who is fighting with every ounce of her being for their futures.
Total recommendation if you want to sparkle too.
