172 is a great place to sit and watch the world go by. The street theatre has been leaning more towards the noir recently but what's not to like? Table pretty much on the street, traffic is not too heavy, some very good coffee and surprising gems of food.
I don't mind a trip down Ballsack Lane either now and again but you have to dig a little deeper in your pocket.

I've had some good times in Sun Dance, when there's been a reason to go such as a band playing, party etc.

But go on any random day and it's pretty awful, the unmistakable odour of tefluant hitting you as you walk through the door.

As for the Sun Dance riverside, that never took off.

Harry seems like a good chap, good luck to him.

Awful place the bar is full of Nigerians I had the misfortune of staying there one night,the room had no windows it was above the bar and noisy all night.
To top things off they were hassling me about checking out as I was half an hour late,absolute dump I would never go back even if it was free!
So you’re upset because you was in the wrong and they called you out on it.
If you read my post it was quite obviously the whole experience,I got the feeling that the staff thought they were better than the customers which I found very strange,considering the place is an absolute toilet?
Anyway it's Scumdance from now on for me or are you going to try and tell me what I should call it now?
I read the whole post and couldn't care less what you call it.

To summarise:

You booked the cheapest room in a bar famous for music nights, you checked out late and don't like blacks

I found Harry to be one of the more affable bar owners around. Sundance did have some dregs rolling around for the cheap beers like the rest of 172 but I’d give it a visit every couple months. I liked the space when it wasn’t crowded.

I like the owner of Sundance. He’s a decent man. He has also done something that hundreds of lowlife Phnom Penh expats - including 440 members - have failed to do repeatedly: establish successful businesses in Cambodia, provide for their family, give themselves a good life and increase their wealth.

It’s not to everyone’s taste but he knows his market well and he has nailed it time and time again.

What is this "Asian hospitality" you are alluding to? I've been in various Asian countries for a large part of my life yet I have no idea what that means. I have found that the quality of service anywhere in the world varies wildly, and if you are going for the cheapest it shouldn't be too surprising if it isn't the best. :axe:

They have one room with no window. It is the cheapest available. If you choose a cheap room in a cheap hotel above a busy bar that plays loud music, you can hardly complain that it has no windows and it’s noisy.
