At least two of the above have bunch of conservatives and critics, who feature very prominently on the front page etc., to offer a counterpoint. Some are on staff, some are invited. I think they make a point of it in fact.
The Nytimes, Washington Post and Wall Street Journal are probably the most mainstream newspapers in the USA.
They are middle of the road reporting.
Some people disagree..OK.
I have friends who watch fox news the conservative news tv channel in the USA and they claim that fox news is mainstream. Roger Ailes the founder of fox news basically said his intention was to elect conservative republicans - that is hardly mainstream.
The Kristof - Somaly Mam episode was an egregious example of agenda driven 'journalism'. Every bit as irresponsible and unconscionable as the yellow stuff in the Murdoch rags. It (should have) shook the institution to its' core.
Yet, the NYT STILL has him listed on their site as a columnist and presumed expert on, ''human rights, women's rights, health and global affairs.''
That's like allowing Martin Winterkorn to remain at VW in the capacity of technical advisor; diesel powerplant emissions.
Actually, fuck that - at least Winterkorn was successful at spewing shit for people to choke on.
