Rainey was interviewed on RFA saying he should be allowed home just the night before HE lifted the ban. He was lied right into a trap and now of course he is backpeddling as the CPP knew he would.

Cambodia uses proportional representation so it makes little sense for New Mandala (whoever that is) to award an entire province to a party that won 45% of the vote. Looking at the numbers I'm guessing many provinces split a big chunk of the vote between the two main players.

The people casting their vote here were completely irrelevant....the relevant ones were the ones counting the vote.

With 8 million illegal Vietnamese registered to vote here, it's a wonder CNRP got any votes at all.

Since yesterday I've spoken to 4 adults who didn't vote, 5 I think, who did vote. Terrible sample size I know...but they are reporting 9 out of every ten people voted.

Was it 89% of the people registered to vote or 89% of people? 3 of the guys I spoke to weren't registered.
Registered voters. 7,040,594 of 7,865,033 registered voters were recorded as casting their ballot.

89% of registered I believe

roughly 9.8m eligible to vote, 7.8m registered & 6.8m voted

Therefore 87% voted of registered and 69% of eligible. Still high, especially for a local election

Sure, I don't think it's particularly accurate but I posted it anyway just to show how allegiances might not be quite what some imagine.
