It appears, this sad story shows the futility avoiding death and taxes.
Yes, I have to add,
1. Never directly compete with this government without some juice,
2. Know how the old boy network here works, it appears that enterprising Tuk Tuk driver knows when to go all in with a "govt gift." I'm sure that's a down payment for future taxes he intends to pay the govt.
As much as I like to support Cambodia, I must say, Cambodia is NO LONGER TAX FREE. Low taxes sure, for needed developments like infrastructure, electricity, etc., but no longer the "palm beaches and nice, simple villagers" destination for investment.
Cambodia is moving up, and so are the goal posts, I'm afraid.
It may be enticing but dangerous to think Cambodia is still tax free. Sadly, it is not. Fair warning, going into 2018.
DO NOT go against a government run business unless all your t's are crossed and i's are dotted. I say this looking at this case and at the CD.
