Just email EK to cancel your flight before the departure of the remaining segments you want to cancel.
Tell them, you know it's not refundable, though want your taxes back. This way, it's even cheaper to buy a low-cost return and cancel the return with money back on the taxes, than to purchase a one-way ticket (Assuming you fly Economy for that 50 min stretch).
EK economy is significantly cheaper than about any airline between BKK and PNH, even when purchased (on-line) a few hours before departure AND they tend to be pretty reliable on schedule.
Seat padding at EK in economy is terrible though...... Once, but never again
