Alright! I live in Australia and I was a good friend of Billy's during the 1980s. I have just been told of his death. To put the speculation to rest: he did not do jail time, your tattoo references stink of stereotypes. Swallows are classics and his are not on his hand. Spiderwebs also pretty standard fare, no deep meaning their either. Billy had a horrific motorbike accident when he was 21 and acquired a brain injury, he never worked again. He consumed a lot of prescription drugs and he drank a lot of alcohol. He looks pretty decrepit and I am glad he lived as long as he did but please , don't paint him worse than he was. He was not a pedophile, I doubt he ever laid a hand on a woman and I laughed when I read that his " wife" moved out because he drank and argued, yep, his brain raced all over the place and he loved to be philosophical , eosoterjc. He would have sounded mad because he was, but evil, no. RIP my beautiful friend .
THANK YOU Lindalee for your words and I so very much hope that you will see my message here; I also knew Bill in the 1980's, when he was a kibbutz volunteer in Israel. He already had his spider-web tattoo then, as well as symmetrical dragons on his calves. He told me about his accident, I thought he had quite a low self-esteem as a result of it. He drank heavily even then, but he was one of the kindest, gentlest and wittiest guys I ever knew. We kept in touch for some time after he left Israel, I have always been mad at myself that somewhere over time, I lost his letters and some photographs of him, and that we lost contact. Since the internet-age, I have tried to find him many times, always to no avail until today (13th october 2020), when the addition of the word "tattoo" to his full name William,- brought me to this here website. I cannot begin to imagine the suffering and loneliness he must have experienced as a result of his obvious alcoholism, that combined with his brain injury & prescription drugs, clearly rendered him very ill and disturbed indeed. Through the link of one of the people posting here, I went through his facebook page. The video of himself there just made me cry. I just wish that somewhere along the lines of his unfortunate life, help would have been available to him. Rest In Peace dear Bill. I cherish my memories of you and always will.
