As a journalist, isn't your main priority your readers and the story, not the subjects themselves? I can see that it's a moral dilemma.
Good point, but I'd like to think i'm a person first, before being a reporter (don't laugh).
First do no harm, in my opinion. I know that sounds cheesy.
I'm happy to say here, in my
personal opinion based on what i've seen/heard, the italians acted in self defense after the Khmer guys attacked first and armed themselves first. Then it all got a bit silly. But the italians were the only ones who were genuinely and visibly injured.
Also, all sides want to drop the charges and let it go, it's a judge who's decided to make an example of all of them (but especially "the foreigners").
