Prime Minister Hun Sen has threatened to use the full force of the law against the hackers who attacked his website early on Saturday morning.
Mr. Hun Sen announced that his website,
www.samdechhunsen.gov.kh, had been hacked in the early hours of Saturday and it had not only affected his reputation, but he had also lost a lot of data.
The prime minister took to Facebook on Saturday morning, saying his page had been hacked at 4:12 am.
He added that the hacker had changed photographs and added a Khmer voice to his page.
"This is an attempt to destroy the reputation of the prime minister of Cambodia. It also caused the loss of a big amount of data from the website," he said.
"This is an IT crime that a criminal committed on the official website of Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia," Mr. Hun Sen added, saying this was the action of a group from the opposition party who always find evil methods to attack the premier.
"Even if we know where the criminal came from, we have to respond in front of the national law and international law," Mr. Hun Sen said.
"Now the government's IT crimes expert group is investigating the source of the hacking and they will be sentenced under the law," Mr. Hun Sen said.
