I'm no investigator. But here's what I suspect so far. This guy Adams was not on a holiday. NZ Herald is covering up for something. What was Adams doing in Cambodia? Good question. Why this choice of hotel? It does not make sense. I think the drugs story could be manufactured. As has been mentioned, Cambodian police aren't exactly models of forensic examination. But taking drugs is a possibility. Did Adams really have a heart attack? Possible. Lots of questions.
I can see why gavinmac or anyone else would want to be bothered with an investigation. But the profile of this guy does not fit that of the usual lowlifes that run into trouble in the KOW.
Just think there is a more interesting story here that merits more than nasty and dismissive statements from posters.
Many of the tourists who overdose in Cambodia are not penniless "lowlifes." They have jobs back home, they have money to travel to Southeast Asia. They also have drug addiction problems. That's why they end up overdosing.
I tend to take newspapers at their word. The NZ Herald says he was on holiday. The notion that he was on a secret undercover reporting assignment and was murdered and the Herald is trying to cover it up by blatantly lying about his presence in Cambodia makes no sense.
It seems that when Western dudes commit suicide or overdose in Cambodia, which they do frequently, there's almost always someone who then comes on to Khmer440 who says "I don't believe it, there's more to this story, hint, hint, maybe he was murdered." I just find all such posts to be quite silly.
