Yeah, I would trade some things to get other things. The 49/51% business law, the caste/feudal system that is their culture and the racism are all things that make the place difficult. Some are more tolerant or have fewer options, or were dropped on their head as a child and may not have the self-esteem to remove themselves from dysfunctional relationships/situations. With the exception of a few, I find myself avoiding most Thai's. It's a common practice here, by those with common sense.
Re; the 18 elections vs. the big cheese here kicking it. I think the cheese is going down before the 18 elections, and Thailand will be a place to avoid while the featherweights find their direction again.
Since rent is so cheap here, and, if business continues to grow, I may set up 2 residences and go back and forth, depending on circumstances. This solves, or may solve, the cheese/18 issue. At this juncture, I'm just scouting.
If PP doesn't pass the smell test, I'll keep my head down, my business in the cloud and watch what plays out over the next 2/3 years in SEA. On the surface, PP represents opportunities you can't find in Thailand.
One thing is certain, and that is almost no country kicks out a person bringing in tax revenue. As long as I don't have to take a bugger-picking, ass-scratching, shrimped-dicked, uneducated know-it-all as a partner, due to business regulations, I may just open a business in Cambo. At this point, as mentioned, I'm just scouting.
Thank you for the quip about the elections. I didn't know they were an issue. Must familiarize myself! Cheers.
