I know of ta least 2 people teaching there with only TEFL certificates, but doing really well...
Yes, I agree. Although I have 2 Master's degrees, they are not related to the subject that I teach, and I do not have a B.Ed or PGCE. I do have a clutch of specialist teaching certificates in Phonics, IELTS, Special Educational Needs and Girls' Education.
Actually, even if I had a B.Ed or M.Ed, it would not give me a higher salary with my employer. I prefer not to teach Maths/Physics (my MSc qualification). I 'fell into' teaching KG many years ago and have stayed teaching Young Learners because I understand how important it is for YLs to get their pronunciation correct, letter-writing, blending letter groups etc.
Also, they are too small to hit you back after you slap them (that's a joke).
'Get it right at the start and those kids will have a successful future with English'.
I like PP very much, but when I applied to schools in that city I got nowhere. Seems only young white females teach YLs...
