I've heard quite a bit about 'extras' that other people have gotten, but I am never offered any extras at all -- ever. Extras in this case could mean a facial mask, nail cutting, ear cleaning, massage, or sexual services. I would consider myself 'lucky' if offered.
I have never been very keen on going to the hairdressers, but the time had come and I had to go for a trim. I went in and asked for a basic cut and got taken to a back room by a pretty young girl ( I was unsure at this point, a similar scenario in Indonesia made me cautious), she proceeded to wash my hair and give me a full head and face massage and ear cleaning. I'm not in to that sort of thing but had nothing better to do so went with it, it was really relaxing and she did a good job on my hair! my dislike for hairdressers has somewhat diminished since then.
I've still never had the courage to have a cut throat shave, not sure how well a khmer would wield a razor blade, think I'll stick with my perma-stubble.
