Yeah, I'd never think of doing them now, in my current condition (meaning far from my wall. And hell, I wasn't near it back then either.).
The only harm I think they did to me was injure my shoulder. Joints/ligaments couldn't keep up with the stress my muscles could take, thus suffered the brunt of my injuries.
And maybe this isn't possible, but I never had a bulky built before using them, but after using them my frame has stayed big, especially my arms, even going years without lifting.
I was proud to be able to bench press my own weight this week though, LoL, for 5 reps without a spotter (88 kilos). Just waiting for my shoulder to start acting up again.
