Useless fact: There are some leeches that eat small invertebrates rather than suck blood.
Well some of those may get approved...unless they're socialists.

I think the general implication is not that he didn't have money, but that anyone with money would be acceptable to you, even Adie.

You forgot Uncle Idi, the likeness between you two is extraordinary.

I've heard, on good word, that you actually are one of the beneficiaries of that ill-gotten-wealth. I'm appalled. I don't know how you can sleep at night. 8-)

Uncle Adie was on the troubled side of the family, but he did us ok. I descended from a long line of bloody sucking leeches on the other.

Actually, Hitler was very rich and made a fortune from royalties from Mein Kampf, helped of course by him prescribing that every German household should have a copy, at the Government's expense. He also refused to pay taxes. When he was Chancellor he was issued with a huge tax bill on earnings from Mein Kampf in the early 1930s; he refused to pay it and the German Government passed legislation making him tax exempt. It's estimated he had a private fortune of around 1.1bn reichsmark by the time he died.

I'm fine, I just wondered what the big deal was with my sentence.
Would you do me the great favor of correcting it?

'I think you'd back Hitler if he had money.' Now, we all know Hitler is dead, yes? So obviously it must be a hypothetical - in this case impossible - situation.'

What we are doing is juxtaposing 2 people in time...one we know is dead, with scobienz...who is alive, (more or less).

It's a conditional, and it indicates a hypothetical situation, pretty sure it's acceptable. Usage in conditionals is weird...for example...If I were a doctor...

Interesting...

I wasn't actually talking, I was posting. Perhaps we could discuss the correct usage for that at a later stage.
