I've been using this for a few months. Overall it's very positive.
Couple of points.
- maybe best not to use it to 'reserve' funds when booking a hotel room. It locks down a higher amount than necessary for (they say) up to 10 working days.
- some ATM's (they tell me older machines) still want to recognise it as a UK card and charge exchange rates. Out of maybe 8 withdrawals I had this problem 3 times. Even if this happens it still worked out cheaper than my VISA debit card.
- lifting the equivalent of $250-300 saved me about £15+ when compared to my VISA debit card.
- best to order it when you are in the UK (or Europe)with a UK phone number. Technically the service isn't available in Cambodia but you can get around this. I set it up when I was in Cambodia - it was a little bit tricky, but not awful. Need to register with a friends phone number, they send an authorisation code to that phone number, your friend must be available to pass it on to you quickly. Then you input the authorisation code into the app.
This will mean the set-up is complete.
You will then need to change the linked phone number to your Khmer number. Sign in again, change the phone number, receive the authorisation number and input it into the app. You may need to do this a couple of times (seems to be a wee bit buggy, or at least it was a few months ago)
Once tel no changed you are good to go.
NB they will only send the physical card to a UK address. So you will need someone to mule it out to you.
