Some heart rate monitors are basically just straps with a battery and a sensor, communicating with some workout machine using some (unknown) wireless protocol. Without the machine these are pretty useless. At least out in the bush where I like to use one.
Some are just similar straps using Bluetooth to communicate with a cellphone - that could potentially be fine. Some are watches, some are watches with a strap attached to either the arm of the chest, and so on....
I am looking for a HR monitor I can use in the forest behind my house. That's what I called 'stand alone'.
Maybe someone else has an idea if these are available in KOW. If not, I will check out Bangkok later.
