LL is of course correct, a Cambodian passport is more challenging to travel on. Nevertheless, if my kids had had one, I suppose they wouldn't need to get K visas now. They could enter and depart most countries on their Western passport - showing both their Cambodian passport and Western one to the airline, could enter Cambodia on their Cambodian passport, and within ASEAN could choose the most suitable passport according to need. It is all new to me, is this a correct understanding of how dual nationality and dual passports work?
Also, they wouldn't now need a Covid-19 test!
(Not sure if the following still fits best in this thread, or a new one?)
Understood that Cambodian passports can only be applied for in Cambodia. Many thanks again PSD-Kiwi! However, getting passports while there will still be a bit involved. Not all my kids were born in Cambodia, and those that were not have no Cambodian birth certificates, or ID, or appear in any Family Books. The kids that were born in Cambodia were never in a Family book either, but they did have their hospital birth records officially issued and certified at the Commune and District levels.
More messy still, our marriage certificate is Western, not Cambodian and, as I'm older than 50, I have no idea if we are legally married in Cambodia. Does anyone know? ((The last time we bought Hard-Title land in Cambodia, 2017, the local Land Management Office eventually said they couldn't issue title unless my wife signed as a single woman, disconcerting as the deal was all done weeks earlier and local land management had had a copy of our marriage certificate the whole time! Happily, that was never an issue with soft title.))
Anyone have suggestions what to use with Khmer Passport applications in lieu of a Cambodian Birth Certificate?
Can I legally be on the Cambodian Family Book as husband and Father?
