my impression it was the japanese that did the Cambodian road to HCMC. can recall traveling on that road at least ten years apart .. and it was still under construction both times. havent been recently but probably still is under construction if the past is any indication.
but yes something really does need to be done for that road number 5, split total 4 lane would be my wish list same like many of the major thai roads and the thais get the job done fast
was also thinking that perhaps they were going to use the rail line to rid NR5 of trucks and buses, and that was why there was not much happening.
was also thinking they need to do a bypass highway because there are houses and shops virtually all the way along fronting the road
