What about when a person you know, face to face, and trust, speaks well of the person who is going to look after your belongings, and refers to them by supposed real name? Not so strange to trust a person to look after your things then.
No, that is folly, because the trust that exists between your friend and the 3rd party is not necessarily the same level of trust you have with your friend.
The other consequence is when it goes horribly wrong, you will likely blame your trusted friend over the 3rd party, who has prolly left the building anyway, and lose a friendship.
