I'm not eligible for ID card and I don't even speak Khmer beyond soksabai and nyam bai, but my Khmer friend said it would be a good idea to get one, although apart from the obvious release from paying visa fee, I'm not exactly sure why? My friend recons I could probably get one done in some commune in province, if I became friendly with the local official, but how much do you recon it would that cost ? Anyone here has any experience?
I seem to have lost the immigration law booklet, can anyone remind me about the rules, like how many years you have to live here or how much money you cough up to get a nationality? I guess there is no half-way solution like citizenship?
