Did Hat Lek - Koh Kong last year and payed the normal price ($25 ?) for the ordinary visa. M12, greeting me at the border, did have the "official" amount (THB 1200 ?) ready, though after some phoning by the booth housekeeper to his superiors, all was settled. Neither M12 nor I did any haggling. They do know M12 at the border, though that didn't seem to make a difference (nor does it for her regular customer pickups).
I very quietly told him the price should be $25 and I just sat down, letting the local hero sort out the permission. M12 stood aside and in the end very surprised I got the visa for the normal $ price.
No fuss at all, no words, no tension, keep smiling and just relax. As long as it seems I have all the time of the world, it's his problem to get me out before his office closes for afternoon nap or so. Actually, we were quite in a hurry to get to PP before it would be dark.
I also waived the help of all the toots outside, it's no different from the forms stuff you fill out in the airplane.
The visa office, is the last door/window, seen from the Thai side. Stamping of the visa and taking the finger prints is on the first (or second, forgot that) window.
What "convinced" them seemed to be the multiple 1 months ordinary visa in my pp. I got the explanation to go XXX for a 1 year extension. Nobody told him, I would be interested in that (I wasn't).
