Thanks for the tip LaudJohn - yes it looks interesting and led me to the following:
''Chroy Ampil villagers, Kbarl Koh commune and Pok Resey villagers in Kandal Province earn a living by weaving and spinning thread of Khmer scarf for a very long time. The skills required for this production are transferred within families from generation to generation.
Number of weavers: Production is mostly in Kien Svay and Ksarch Kandal Commune. In Kien Svay there are 85 families who are weaving and spinning thread of Khmer scarf. They have 397 semi-automatic processes looms.'' (

Even if this is a fair bit of tourist hype, looks like it will be worth making the trip out there.
