Has the price for the test and 10 year license increased also?
A couple of years back it was only something like 20 quid to do the theory and practical test. Cant remember how much exactly but i remember it being much cheaper than I expected.
Spending half a day doing the test and getting a 10 year license may now be more attractive than 30 quid a pop every year.
It was the same price as locals pay, around $13.50 or something.
In my experience (from what other expats who’ve attempted it) you won’t get it all done in one day. It requires multiple trips and they will fail you for any errors.
Yeah you have to be absolutely flawless to pass.
Motorbike test for me was only a couple of hours all in including theory and practical test. The practical test can be pretty tricky on a big bike,
Car test was another story. Weirdly it is a much easier practical test but they are trying hard to fail you. When I went there were 5 (non Chinese) foreigners there who were doing a retest after failing the previous day, they all passed the second time - they reported that all foreigners yesterday were failed. There were 4 other foreigners there with me and only 1 passed first time,
I saw about 20 Chinese doing practical tests. It was pretty funny, some of them looked like they had never been in a car before. I didn’t see any of them pass - but they were deserving of their fails.
One guy answered his phone during his test, another forgot about seatbelt, another woman drover over the curb at the first corner.
