But surely if one is a Scottish citizen, say someone who is working abroad for X number of years, yet still a homeowner, pays tax, banking, investments ect in Scotland they should have the right to vote on things as important as a federal election or independence I should think.
The problem in Canada was that this law has always been on the books( albeit repeatedly challenged in court) yet it has never been enforced until this government, and this election. The law has been unclear as its always been in limbo or never enforced then suddenly people who have strong ties to their home country have no say its future in regards to voting.
