Re: Western Homeless on the Rise
Has anyone here ever met Patrick? I believe he used to own a bar in Sihanoukville for a stint until the locals drove him out. He used to have a place to crash and I think he might have even been teaching at one time in PP. He was helping with the open mic at Sundance for a time as well and was a tal...

Re: Global Post calls out happy pizza places by name
I'm not sure, but these unfortunate foreigners are about to find out. Perhaps the article wasn't such a good idea after all, not that it's where the police received there tip-off. Perhaps it's the DEA applying some pressure on the Khmers? Maybe someone needed some cash for Khmer New Year? Who knows,...

Re: Global Post calls out happy pizza places by name
Also, if I'm correct, Tony Bourdain doesn't mention picking up a 10 dollar sack behind the counter. He enjoys his pizza and moves on. As for objectivity in this piece, it has none. It makes it sound as if what they are slinging at these restaurants will leave you fucked for days, when in reality you...

Re: Global Post calls out happy pizza places by name
“If I'd written all the truth I knew for the past ten years, about 600 people - including me - would be rotting in prison cells from Rio to Seattle today. Absolute truth is a very rare and dangerous commodity in the context of professional journalism.” - Hunter S Thompson. I couldn't agree more with...

Re: Global Post calls out happy pizza places by name
They do advertise happy pizzas on their site but not the wink and nod $10 sacks that Patrick mentions. This writer basically did what the dude from the Happy Hippy did a few years back, the only difference is that Mr. Happy Hippy did it to himself.

Global Post calls out happy pizza places by name
Have a look at this article - http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/regions/asia-pacific/cambodia/130221/Cambodia-drugs-global-economy-political-risk-aid The person who wrote it called out the happy pizza joints in PP by name. Isn't it an unwritten rule among expats that if you want to keep a good...

The ESL Scene in Cambodia – Part 2
The ESL Scene in Cambodia – Part 2: Soft Landings, Getting a Job (and Keepin’ Your Sanity) Like most westerners who end up staying in Cambodia, I showed up with little to no plan of action, or much cash at all to speak of. If I wanted to experience life in the tropics of Asia, I was going to need to...

Re: Angry Birds Foreign Language School
It looks awfully real to me, but I'm no photoshop expert. According to the website where I found the picture, the school is located in Banteay Meanchey Province. I suppose someone who speaks Khmer could call or email the school and get the low-down.

Hun Sen Bans Booze and I Need a Drink
Phnom Penh, Cambodia - That’s right, it looks like Cambodia is going to give temperance a try, at least with a wink and a nod and for the next couple of days during upcoming commune elections. Prime Minister Hun Sen reportedly signed an executive directed that bans the sale and consumption of alcoho...

Video: CPP Holds Massive Rally, Outside my house
Phnom Penh, Cambodia – The Cambodia People’s Party (CPP) held several rallies in the capital on Friday and Saturday, ahead of local commune elections to be held in the country on June 3rd. The rallies are meant to shore up support for Prime Minister Hun Sen and the CPP, which has dominated the poli...
