Re: UK visitor visa refused for the 2nd time
The UK prefer not to grant visas to unmarried women who are going to visit their boyfriends, so if they have any reason to deny the visa, they will. As others have said, you don't qualify for the UK visa because you don't have enough income and ties to your resident country. The last time I went to ...

Re: Them Temples up at Siem Reap and that.
Seems unlikely that she'll want to go to the temples but be happy to skip all of the better known ones. The nice thing about the main complex is that you can see several temples in a few hours and then call it quits. Check out the Canby Guide , they have a good section on the temples if you're reall...

Lost Goddesses: Denial of Female Power in Cambodian History
Does anyone know where I can find a copy of Lost Goddesses: The Denial of Female Power in Cambodian History by Trudy Jacobsen? I read an except on Google Books and it was fascinating; I'd love to find a copy of the entire book.

Re: Gordon from Espresso Kampuchea in SHV has passed
I'm sorry to hear it. I visited Espresso Kampuchea for a coffee a years ago and ended up staying for hours, just listening to Gordon's stories. He was an interesting character and had great banter. To a new expat like me, he represented all that was good (and bad) about the old guard expats. I alway...

It's the same guy. Passport shows same three names. He's the one that said he didn't sexually abuse his victims, he just let them eat noodles in his living room.

Re: Cambodian Foie Gras
You do NOT need aircon but the ethics of it are another matter. There are ways to ethically raise ducks and geese for foie gras, and there are producers in the US doing it. As a duck owner myself, I can easily imagine my ducks happily lining up for a feeding tube. This article about the topic is pr...

Re: Have you ever accidentally given a tuk tuk driver $100 b
Earlier this month I gave a taxi driver in Bangkok a 20 baht tip. Got a big smile for that. Only later I realized I had given him a 1000 baht tip, hence the smile.

Re: sleeping pills
I'd like to take a strip of Stillnox with me when I go abroad, but would like to get a prescription so I won't have any trouble. Can anyone recommend a cheap doctor that won't be confused by this request?

Re: Gang rape in Cambodia
If you actually read the first thread that Khmeria posted, the therapist goes back and contradicts the original statement and admits that 10-50% of women do not have orgasms during rapes. The therapist has lumped in all sexual response as "orgasms" which is a pretty major difference. Even quoting a ...

Re: The Bayon Strikes Back
I don't think any of his comments about this forum are off the mark. It is gradually becoming dominated by posters who are shifting from harmless banter to vicious attacks. I personally post in far fewer thread than I used to, leaving the knuckle-draggers to take over. I think it would be wise for ...

I also think it sounds pretty homoerotic but what do I know. In all of the reports I've read, Khmer men say it's a good way to save money on prostitutes.

Re: Setting up Digi with WiFi
Thank you, and thanks to Ned for helping me set it up properly. Turned out there was some nat-related problem, so the Digi guys sorted it out today and now I have amazingly fast, affordable internet.
